SEMSA Virtual Run Taj Mahal to Glasgow!

SEMSA Walk Celebration

SEMSA Virtual Walk 2021

Dear friends and supporters of SEMSA, I pray you are well. Thank you for continuously supporting SEMSA and helping our community stay active and healthy. Last year we had a virtual walk/run which was extremely successful thanks to you. I invite you again to join SEMSA’s virtual run 2021. This year we challenge you to reach the Attari-Wagah border, over 5000 miles from Glasgow so we can show you the exciting border parade. We encourage you to walk, run or cycle to reach the target by the end of June individually or with your friends and family. Individuals or groups who contribute the most miles will be recognised and those who reach the border first will win.
We will send you a Strava group link shortly to record mileage and encourage each other to be active and lead a healthy lifestyle, if you’re unable to use this you can send us your miles via text. We look forward to another successful run.

Women’s Meditation – Virtual Classes 2021

After the successful completion of Ladies Zumba classes, Kamaljeet came up with another equally popular well-being proposal – a six week course of Ladies Meditation Classes. This class is run by multi-talented Priya Kaur, who not only instructs in meditation, but is also a writer. Again this venture has proven to be very popular with around 50 ladies attending each week.

Rajani figured out the technical aspects of Zoom to allow SEMSA to host large group meetings with multi-tasking options. Dry-runs were held to test the system before holding the actual live events. Images from the event can be found on the SEMSA website as well as social media.

The entire SEMSA committee would like to thank everyone involved in setting up, hosting, and participating in these social fitness and well-being events.

Women’s Fun Zoom Exercise Classes 2021

The Ladies of SEMSA got together to come up with a plan to help women stay fit during COVID. Kamaljeet and Dalit proposed Zoom based virtual fitness classes which were unanimously accepted by the entire team. Thanks to Daljit, Pinaz Khan was engaged to run a total of six classes. Attendance was exceptional at approximately 50 ladies per session.

Pinaz has now moved away from Glasgow but takes with her SEMSA’s heart-felt appreciation for her efforts in running the classes.

Jyoti also deserved a huge thank you for developing the consent form used for IWD, Zumba classes and meditation classes – to cover GDPR and permission to record and photo events.
